“You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can
teach him to learn by creating curiosity he will continue the learning process
as long as he lives.”
--Clay

As a teacher I strive to help students to love learning,
think critically, and become problem solvers. I believe that all students can and should learn, and that
it is my job to make that happen. I strive to create a classroom conducive to
learning for all students. I come
to class prepared and with an attitude for success. I expect my students to come willing to try.
To encourage students to love learning I
·
Give students choices,
·
I strive to know my student’s interests,
strengths and weaknesses,
·
I plan projects and assignments that have a real
life purpose.
To encourage students to think critically I
·
Use Socratic Questioning,
·
Teach students to read,
·
Use writing across the curriculum,
·
Encourage reflective writing.
To encourage students to become problem solvers I
·
Place students in small groups to work,
·
Encourage good, wholesome relationships,
·
Build classroom community, and
To create a safe, creative and positive learning environment
I
·
Seek to build positive, meaningful relationships
with my students,
·
Set high, and clear expectations and then
provide ways for the students to meet those expectations,
·
Believe in laughing, playing and having fun.
